Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (port. Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes, European Portuguese: [ˈbɾunu fɨɾˈnɐ̃dɨʃ]; born September 8, 1994 in May, Porto) is a Portuguese footballer, midfielder of the English club Manchester United National Team and Portugal.
As a member of the national team, he took part in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Winner of the first ever UEFA Nations League. Portuguese Cup winner and two-time Portuguese League Cup winner with Sporting.
Bruno was born in Maya, Porto district, and began his football career with the local teams Infesta, Boavista and Pashteleira. In August 2012 he became a player in the Italian club Novara. On November 3, 2012 he made his debut for Novara in the Italian Serie B match against Citadella, he is the last in. On February 22, 2013, in a duel against La Spezia, Fernandes scored his first goal for the Italian team.
In the summer of 2013, Bruno moved to Udinese. On November 3, in the match against Inter, he made his debut in the Italian Serie A, replacing Roberto Pereira in the second half. On 8 February 2014, in a match against Chievo, Fernandes scored his first goal for Udinese.
On August 16, 2016, Bruno moved to Sampdoria. On 28 August 2016, in the match against Atalanta, he made his debut for the new team, replacing Edgar Barreto in the second half. On 26 September 2016, in a duel against Cagliari, Fernandes scored his first goal for Sampdoria.
On June 27, 2017 Fernandes moved to Sporting Lisbon. The transfer amount was 8.5 million euros excluding bonuses, the buyback option was spelled out in the amount of 100 million euros. On 6 August 2017, in the match against Aves, Bruno made his debut in the Primeira League. On 19 August, in the match against Vitoria Guimaraes, Bruno scored a double, scoring his first goals for Sporting.
On July 6, 2018, Fernandes was named the best player of the year in the Portuguese championship. Four days later, he signed a new five-year contract with Sporting CP with a buyback option of € 100 million.
On 3 March 2019, Fernandes scored his 23rd goal of the 2018/19 season against Portimonense, surpassing Antonio Oliveira's 1982 record of goals scored by a Sporting midfielder during the season. On May 5, 2019, Bruno scored a hat-trick against Belenenses, after which he surpassed the record for the most goals among midfielders in the Portuguese championship in one season.
On January 29, 2020, the English club Manchester United announced that they had reached an agreement with Sporting for the transfer of Fernandes. The deal amounted to 55 million euros (47 million pounds), but could rise to 80 million euros in the form of various bonuses. On January 30, the transfer was completed. Fernandes signed a contract with the English club for a period of five and a half years. He made his debut for United in the Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 1 February 2020. Scored his first goal for Manchester United on 23 February 2020, earning and converting a penalty against Watford.
